What we collect

Free Food Club collects the minimum data needed to operate:

• Email address — for sign-in via one-time code (OTP). We don't store passwords.
• Location data — used to show nearby food listings and attach a location to food you share. Your live location is never shared with other users.
• Photos — photos you take or select when sharing food are uploaded to our servers and visible to other users near your listing.
• Listing data — title, description, and location of food you share.

How we use your data

• Show you food available near your current location
• Display your listings to other users within a 2km radius
• Send you sign-in codes via email
• Track your Karma Leaves reputation score

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to third parties
• We don't share your exact location with other users — only your listing's location is visible
• We don't use your data for advertising
• We don't require passwords — authentication is via email OTP only

Data storage

Your data is stored on Supabase servers in the EU. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. All connections use HTTPS encryption.

Data retention

• Listings auto-expire after 24 hours and are removed from the map
• Your account and listing history are retained until you request deletion
• You can request account deletion by emailing us

Analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics (how features are used) and Sentry for error tracking. Both are configured to minimise personal data collection. Analytics are disabled in development mode.

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing
• Data portability
